CAVE HILL, Barbados – Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre (HPC) beat West Indies Under-19s by three runs in the second and final practice match at 3Ws Oval on Friday.
Chasing 172 to win in 50 overs, the West Indies Under-19s were restricted to 168-7. Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King were the joint topscorers with 47, the latter being unbeaten. Tristan Coleman contributed 27.
Left-hander Pooran faced 49 balls and struck four sixes and one four while King received 85 deliveries and hit one four and one six. Off-spinner Dalton Polius took two for 28 and right-arm medium-pacer Kyle Mayers, two for 39.
The Sagicor HPC were bowled out for 171 in 49.1 overs after winning the toss. Raymon Reifer topscored with 34 off 69 balls, while fellow left-hander Mayers made 32 off 47 deliveries with one boundary and Shai Hope, 23.
Skipper and off-spinner Ramaal Lewis and left-arm seamer Preston McSween each took three wickets for 22 and 29 runs respectively.
West Indies Under-19s leave on Saturday for Bangladesh where they will play a seven-match One-Day series against Bangladesh Under-19s as part as preparations for the ICC Youth World Cup in United Arab Emirates in February, 2014.
