Bridgetown, Barbados - A record-equalling 13 centuries have now been scored in the 2014 BCA Sagicor General Super Cup Championship following three in Series 8 on Sunday.

The record was first set in 2009.

And with one round remaining in the preliminaries before the 18-team tournament goes into the knockout stage, a new record could be established in the 40-year history of the island's top one-day competition.

Slamming hundreds in Series 8 were Kavem Hodge of Sagicor Life UWI, ICBL Empire's Roston Chase and Kemal Smith of YMPC.

Hodge's was the most blistering. The Dominican all-rounder hit 114 off only 80 balls with ten fours and two sixes in a total of 270 for eight off 50 overs against record eight-time champions Massy Stores Spartan, who were humiliated by 152 runs at Queen's Park and took their exit from Zone 'A'.

Chase also made 114, off 131 balls with 18 threes and three fours as Empire scored 243 for eight in 50 overs against school team Caribbean Alliance/Akobah Gardens Foundation, who were crushed by 163 runs at Bank Hall in Zone 'B'.

In the same Zone, Smith scored 113 off 121 balls including 11 threes and six fours in a total of 281 for five off 50 overs against ESA Field Pickwick at Beckles Road.

But his effort was in vain as Pickwick, spurred by a brilliant, unbeaten 96 off 100 balls from Shai Hope, triumphed by four wickets with two balls to spare. Hope struck seven threes and five fours.

Barbados player Hope now has 331 runs at an amazing average of 165.50, having been dismissed only twice in seven knocks.

It has been a wonderful season with the bat for the 20-year-old Hope in the three major local domestic competitions.

He amassed the most runs (346; ave: 69.20) in the Sagicor General Twenty20 Championship, currently has 415 runs (ave: 46.11) in the Elite division, which ends this weekend, and is only one run behind the batsman with the most runs in the Super Cup - Rashidi Boucher, the Spartan opener, whose season ended in an anti-climax, as he was sidelined by illness for the match against UWI.

Boucher finished with 332 runs (ave: 55.33) and along with Kraigg Brathwaite, the CounterPoint Wanderers, Barbados and West Indies Test opener, who is now touring Sri Lanka with the West Indies 'A' team, are the only batsmen to score two centuries in the Super Cup this season.

Brathwaite, who boasts of the most centuries all told (six) in the Super Cup and veteran Maple player Pedro Agard are the only batsmen in the current list who were among the 13 century-makers in 2009.

Apart from Boucher and Hope, two other batsmen have reached 300 runs in the 2014 Super Cup - BDFSP left-hander Antonio Greenidge (302) and Kyle Corbin of UWI (300).

Following is the record-equalling list of century-makers for the 2014 Sagicor General Super Cup Championship:
