Barbados XI dominate Windies A in 2-Day

Bridgetown, Barbados - Openers Kyle Corbin and Shayne Moseley hit centuries as a Barbados XI dominated a two-day practice match against a West Indies 'A' side at the 3Ws Oval.

After being sent in, Barbados amassed 330 for one declared off 83 overs to which West Indies 'A' responded with 195 for six off 64 overs.

Corbin, who has been in fine form for Sagicor Life UWI in the BCA Elite division championship with 561 runs (ave: 56.10) including two centuries - one of them a double - made 117. He batted for 279 minutes, faced 200 balls and struck eight fours and five sixes.

Left-hander Moseley, who represents CounterPoint Wanderers, scored 132 retired (not out) in 282 minutes off 199 balls with 15 fours and four sixes.

The pair added 272 in 63.4 overs.

Moseley, a member of the champion Barbados Under-19 three-day team player in 2012, first reached his century in 218 minutes off 151 balls with 12 fours and three sixes in the 50th over, while Corbin, a first-class player for Combined Campuses & Colleges and a former Barbados and West Indies Under-19 representative, got to his hundred in 257 minutes off 185 deliveries, striking eight fours and three sixes, in the 58th over.

The Hope brothers, Kyle and Shai, who both play for ESA Field Pickwick, were unbeaten on 35 and 22 respectively.

When bad light ended play on the opening day, Wednesday, Barbados were 317 for one off 76 overs with Shai Hope on 16 and Kyle Hope, 28.

West Indies 'A' made a poor start, losing Kraigg Brathwaite (nine), Assad Fudadin (one) and Kirk Edwards (nought) - all with Test experience - as they wobbled to 11 for three.

Andre Fletcher topscored with 80 at No. 4. He batted for 211 minutes, received 171 balls and hit four fours and five sixes.

Sunil Ambris contributed 33, skipper Carlos Brathwaite 32 and Marlon Barclay, 22 not out.

Dawayne Sealy, the UWI fast bowling all-rounder, took four for 44 off 13 overs. His scalps were Kraigg Brathwaite, Edwards, Fletcher and Ambris - all of whom are in the 14-man West Indies 'A' squad named today for a tour of Sri Lanka starting next month.

Fudadin, who is also in the West Indies 'A' squad to tour Sri Lanka, fell to national Under-19 left-arm pacer Tarik Shorey and was given chance to bat twice, while Carlos Brathwaite was dismissed by left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, who is currently the top bowler in the Elite division championship with 42 scalps for virtual new winners ICBL Empire.
