Bridgetown, Barbados - Alexandra are the new champions of this year's BCA’s Republic Bank Everton Weekes Under-13 (35 overs a-side) competition.
In the final today at Kensington Oval, they easily defeated two-time champions Nicholls Baking Combermere by seven wickets with 31 balls to spare.
It was the third consecutive year the two teams had met in the final at the same venue.
Chasing 112 to win from 29 overs, Alexandra reached the target off the final ball of the 24th over. The inform Deshawn Toppin notched up a magnificent undefeated 49, including five fours from 42 deliveries.
He was ably supported by fellow all-rounder and captain Rikeem Headley who finished on 27 not out. The pair shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 73 in 71 balls.
