Barbados Cricket Association article.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Again displaying a fighting spirit, Foundation 'B' Old Scholars defeated Grantley Adams Old Scholars by 21 runs to record their second consecutive win as they moved to the verge of a quarter-final place in the sixth annual Christ Church Foundation School Joel Garner Twenty20 tapeball tournament.

Ron Bates' team, with a varied bowling attack, dismissed newcomers Grantley Adams for 90 in 19.3 overs as they chased 112 for victory in the Barry Gaskin/Bran Williams Zone 'D' at Briar Hall on Monday night.

It lifted Foundation 'B' Old Scholars to the top of the Zone on six points and left the Blackmans, St. Joseph side without a point and in danger of elimination with just one match remaining in the preliminaries.

After winning the toss, Foundation 'B' scored 111 for five off 20 overs. Bates, the vastly experienced LIME player who boasts of over 9 000 runs in the BCA Division 1 (formerly Elite) championship, topscored with 24 off 28 balls following a first wicket partnership of 45 in seven overs with Shomari Davis (17).

Talented ESA Field Pickwick all-rounder Jade Padmore contributed 20 not out and Dwayne Alleyne, 15.

Medium-pacer Kelvin Patterson took three for 17 off four overs.

Missing former Barbados and West Indies batsman Dale Richards, Grantley Adams, with fairly good support from their past students, found the going tough against disciplined bowling.

Well-known vocalist Barry Chandler showed some enterprise in the topscore of 22 off 20 balls. Kevin Greene (11) was the only other double-figure contributor.

Seamer Dwayne Alleyne was the main wicket-taker with three for 13 off four overs including the scalp of former Barbados all-rounder Antonio Mayers for eight.

Padmore, who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm fast, picked up two for eight; off-spinner Amahl Nathaniel, two for 16 and Alleyne's twin brother and pacer, Darren Alleyne, two for 22.

Dwayne Alleyne and Padmore shared the Baron's Smokehouse $100 Player-of-the-Match award.

It was the second such award for Dwayne Alleyne, whose memorable knock of 62 off 48 balls plus three for 31 spurred Foundation 'B' to an amazing 26-run win over Lodge Old Scholars who lost their last eight wickets for 11 runs at Dover on January 31.

There is a big attraction at Dover on Wednesday, February 12, as the Old Scholars of first-timers St. Michael and the 2011 champions Coleridge & Parry clash in the Irvine King/Hugh Barker Zone 'C' with both teams hunting a second win which would result in a clear leader.

Summarised scores of Monday's match:
