Bridgetown, Barbados - Combermere’s coach Roddy Estwick attributes hard work and discipline to their success in the recently concluded Flow Under-15 Cricket competition.
The competition which is in its 13th year, saw Combermere capturing their fourth consecutive title and ninth in the tournament’s history.
Estwick also mentioned that with the recent passing of their former principal, they wanted to do well as they knew she was ailing.
However coming into the final, Combermere did not take anything for granted and went in with a plan.
“We had to make sure QC didn’t get away from us,” said Estwick who added that starving QC’s top batsman Nico Reifer of the strike was also one of their strategies.
QC’s coach Barry Forde, knew it would be a difficult task to beat the defending champions on what he termed an excellent batting pitch.
Forde said that they came into the final without one of their main batsmen but he was pleased with the effort that they showed.
Over the three days, Forde said that both team’s batting units performed better than the bowling units but the pitch made it difficult to capture ten wickets.
Despite the loss he said they plan to be in the finals once again next year with a different result. (CG)
