Bridgetown, Barbados - When the fifth edition of the Inspire Sports/National Sports Council under-13 cricket competition commences today three new teams will be vying for the trophy.
The 35 overs a-side format is set to bowl off at mid-day at various venues across the country.
The newcomers are The Mill Wall Saints, St. Catherine Juniors and Community Cricket League. The Mill Wall Saints are based in Boscobelle, St. Peter, while St. Catherine Juniors home turf is Bayfield, St. Philip.
Both will be competing in zone A. Community Cricket League is placed in zone B and they are located at the Franklyn Stephenson Academy in Bennets, St. Thomas.
With Banks Juniors dropping out very late, Wanderers’ B team have taken their spot in zone B. They will use Briar Hall as their home ground.
Also missing from this year’s tournament will be YMPC Juniors.
Again the tournament which has produced several players for Barbados Junior teams at all levels will go into a knockout phase at the end of the preliminary round. Matches will be contested every Sunday over the next two months.
In two of today’s key first round encounters defending champions Dover Juniors meet North Stars Juniors at Dover.
Fusionz Boutique Passage United, champions of the first three tournaments and last year’s losing finalists will host Isolation Cavaliers Juniors at Passage Road.
